Richard Gere (born August 31, 1949) is an actor from America. He is notable for his role in Arbitrage, The Cotton Club, Sommersby, Chicago, Runaway Bride, American Gigolo, Primal Fear, I’m Not There, Pretty Woman, and Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer.

American actor Richard has appeared in a number of blockbuster movies throughout the course of his career. Perhaps his most well-known performances are in the films Pretty Woman and An Officer and a Gentleman. 1949 saw the birth of Gere in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He started his professional acting career in the 1970s after completing his acting studies at the Juilliard School in New York City.

The 1977 picture Looking for Mr. Goodbar featured Gere in his first significant cinematic performance. He co-starred in the critically acclaimed and financially successful movie with Diane Keaton. A Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor went to Gere for his work in the movie.
